The Department of Education has officially approved the addition of a new Sixth Form for Watling Academy, (a secondary in the family of Denbigh Alliance schools) from September 2025.
This momentous announcement not only signifies a triumph for Watling Academy but also reinforces the successful partnership between the Academy and our Trust. We are delighted to share in the celebration of this strategic move towards providing an even more comprehensive and extended educational experience for the students at Watling Academy.
The decision to expand into Sixth Form education aligns seamlessly with Watling Academy’s dedication to academic excellence.
With the green light from the Department for Education, Watling Academy, with the steadfast support of The Denbigh Alliance, is now gearing up for the next phase of this transformative project. The immediate provision will be provided within the current school building, however future steps involve collaborative efforts in fundraising initiatives and seeking additional sponsorship or donations from organisations eager to contribute to the success of the new Sixth Form with an additional building phase.
We recognise the pivotal role that community support plays in such initiatives. The continued collaboration of local businesses, community leaders, and philanthropic organisations will be essential in backing this endeavor. Together, let’s build on this outstanding achievement and foster an even brighter future for students in Milton Keynes. For more information on how to contribute or become involved, interested parties are encouraged to contact the CEO at collingss@thedenbighalliance.org.uk
This DfE approval opens up a new chapter for Watling Academy which was recently awarded Outstanding following its first OFSTED inspection, and The Denbigh Alliance is proud to be a part of this exciting journey. The Sixth Form will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and success of the Academy.
We look forward to witnessing the positive impact this expansion will have on the students and the broader educational community in Milton Keynes. The new Sixth Form will be a testament to what can be accomplished through collaboration and shared dedication to educational excellence.
