On Saturday 10th June, a group of students from Watling Academy took part in the Buckingham School County Championships Athletics Competition held at Stantonbury School. We are delighted to share with you some fantastic news, in the girl’s 800 metres, Olivia in Year 9 qualified first in her heat and went on to win the final with an English schools qualifying standard of 2 minutes 16 seconds. To put this into context, the UK record for the women’s 800 metres is held by Keely Hodgkinson and stands at 1 minute and 55 seconds.
Olivia will now be part of the team to represent Buckinghamshire at the National Finals in Manchester later this month. Well done, Olivia!
